Job Summary
Responsible for providing strategic leadership of a $100M plus portfolio of electric and gas Customer Energy Efficiency, Building Electrification, Demand Response, and Market Transformation programs to deliver superior customer service and exceed energy savings targets. Provide leadership and coaching to the Conservation and Load Management (CLM) team, including program planning, design and implementation, program outreach, regulatory engagement, program evaluation and accountability for
performance targets. Responsible for leading a diverse organization of 60 or more employees. Responsible for Energy Efficiency (CLM) programs across CT and MA. Represents the company as a lead CLM witness in rate cases and regulatory proceedings.
Responsibilities
Directs the development and management of Avangrid’s CLM portfolio which includes conservation, energy efficiency, peak load management, and electrification of buildings.
Deliver operational CLM targets to benefit customers and shareholders—the main responsibility of the Manager is to cost-effectively lead the delivery of operational energy savings targets for customers to successfully earn performance management incentives for the respective operating companies.
Oversight of all regulatory proceedings and filings associated with the energy efficiency programs in CT and MA. Serve as an expert Witness in support of the company’s program offerings and associated activities during regulatory procedures across CT and MA.
Represent the company in legislative, regulatory and board capacities to serve the companies and customers best interests.
Establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships— Identify and Develop relationships with key stakeholders impacted by the CLM programs both directly and within your team. These relationships include but are not limited to customer advocacy groups, regulators, advisory boards, trade associations and any other stakeholder bodies that influence CLM programs and services.
Represents the company at high level customer engagements, industry events, and strategic working groups.
Overall budget responsibility for $100 million plus portfolio and oversight of more than 100 vendors.
Strategic Planning— Lead the development of publicly filed multi-year plans for regulatory approval. The Manager will lead the CLM team to stay abreast of changing emerging technologies and develop new and innovative go-to-market strategies. Identify new opportunities for revenue streams from CLM programs and develop proposals.
Develop CLM team—Develop team members for future growth opportunities Within CLM. Establish subject matter expertise within the organization and ensure operational business continuity. Mentor supervisory team.
Responsible for multi-state reporting including but not limited to achievement of statewide mandates, equity and allocations and technical measurement and verification.
Overall responsibility for a multi-state Customer Relationship Management platform integrated with the Company’s billing system.
Using current metrics and data, actively monitors the performance of the portfolio ensuring programs add value to our customers, are cost effective, and are easy to use.
Customer Communications - Liaise with internal groups such as corporate communications and customer communications to develop operational communications plans to deliver on program targets.
Maintains a high-level knowledge of industry best practices, emerging trends and new technologies through industry engagements.
Skills and Requirements
• Strategic Thinking – Responsible for all short and long term vision planning including establishing resource requirements, implementation of technology, and development of objectives required to promote a clear direction and improve efficiency and reliability of processes.
• Industry Knowledge – Understand state regulatory structures and utility business models. Familiarity with skilled trades business models such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning, electrical, weatherization and new construction. Firm understanding of Utility Energy Efficiency programs.
• Leadership – Ability to communicate a vision and lead a large team in a dynamic environment. Must have proven track record of developing employees through coaching and feedback. Must promote of thought and collaboration.
Functional/Job/Business Specific Competencies:
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Ability to travel
Education & Experience Required
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
• Must have worked in a sales environment to deliver sales of products or services either in mass, niche or technical environment and/or delivered through developing meaningful relationships and working with a key client management approach.
