Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer ensures equipment aligns with global standards & that processes operate efficiently in accordance with our standard operating procedures. They ensure that manufacturing processes are efficient, cost-effective, and meet quality standards They are responsible for the standardisation of the way we work, communication & implementation of John Cranes global manufacturing processes at site, They will enhance and share best practice. They will utilise the Smiths Excellence System framework to improve manufacturing process efficiency and ensure these improvements are capture through the Smiths Excellence Systems project tools. They will maintain awareness / knowledge of the latest manufacturing technology to bring forward efficiency opportunities and improve the way we work.
The manufacturing engineer will focus on improving production efficiency and reducing costs. Maintaining high standards of safety and environmental compliance.
Qualifications
Equipment Alignment with Global Standards: Ensure all manufacturing equipment meets global standards, specifications and roadmap investment for compliance gaps.
Process Efficiency and Optimisation: Analyse and optimise manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
Standardisation of Work Procedures: Develop, maintain, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all manufacturing processes.
Train staff on SOPs to ensure consistent application and adherence across the site. Identify, document, and share best practices within the manufacturing processes. Monitor and update SOPs to reflect best practices and process improvements.
Continuous Improvement: Utilise the Smiths Excellence System framework to identify and implement process improvements.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all manufacturing processes meet quality standards and specifications. Address and resolve any quality issues promptly
Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of Engineered to Order Manufacturing Experience
- Previous work in an ISO controlled work environment
- Fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Understanding of basic engineering principles
Desired Skills:
- Experience in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience with cost reduction, quality improvement and throughput improvement projects.
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Ability to use Solid Edge.
- Experience with Quality (ISO 9001), Environmental (ISO 14001), and Health & Safety (OHSHAS 18001) business management systems.
- Experience with Haas and Mazak - hands on experience with CNC machining processes and equipment.
