Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Plastics Industry

Job Description Overviewof Role: The primary function is to ensure theoperation's performance integrity and compliance to customer expectations ofall manufactured products. The Manufacturing Engineer will prioritizeaccording to the SQDC mantra (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost) and will contributeto the safety of the team members by ensuring that equipment/processes areengineered to comply with all relevant safety and ergonomic standards. KeyResponsibilities: Will define the production process with enough detail that theproduction team may consistently meet the customer expectations and qualitystandards. Will develop the process to meet the short and long-term needs of thecustomer in terms of quantity and delivery. Shall use the latest methods of GMP to continually improve throughputand process capability. To accomplish this, the Manufacturing Engineer will use the followingEngineering disciplines: Process Flowand Process Flow AnalysisToolingPlanning, Acquisition and MaintenancePFMEA toestablish process risk of failureDevelop coreprocess standards and drive toward process optimizationDevelop aplan to improve core process including making them faster and more reliable.Participate in OEE and Capacity Improvement Teams. Conduct trials in support ofprocess improvement.Maintain 5Sstandards alongside the production team.Participatein 8D and other problem-solving events. To preserve the outcome of the 8D team,update the process documentation to prevent recurrence. Co-ordinate process to build a processthat consistently meets customer expectations focusing on Safety, and maximumefficiencies.Communicate information in an effectivemanner to aid in the advancement of a product from Concept Readiness toImplementation Readiness. This would include analyzing key data from a run andassembling an improvement strategy for the next run.Ensure evidence of compliance to ourinternal policy and procedures. Create and maintain tooling and machinedrawings in an organized way. Draft, layout, and specify technical devices,parts, and equipment by providing documentation, detailed instructions,drawings, or specifications to define for others how devices, equipment, orstructures are to be manufactured, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.Each process within the responsibilityof the process engineer should have a continuous improvement plan.Troubleshoot process issues andunderstand the root cause of problems to identify improvement opportunities.Provide technical input and directionduring capital projects as it relates to machinery or tooling.Utilize industry practices such asLean, Six Sigma, and Project Management methodologiesParticipate in Ergonomics and safetyimprovement teams.Be role models in support of companyobjectives, policy and procedures and safety guidelines. Employment and Educational Requirements: Experience in Plastics processing – i.e. plasticinjection molding, plastic extrusion, etc.BSc in Engineering with experience in newprogram/systems development.Embrace high-performance teamprinciplesHas 2-3 years (min) of relevant professionalexperience in the plastics manufacturing industry.Process development, safe manufacturingprocesses, and facility design (AutoCAD preferably SolidWorks 3D)Process validation; Installation Qualification(IQ), Operational Qualification (OP), and Product Qualification (PQ)Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP),Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Microsoft Office; Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Access, and Visio.Optimize and troubleshoot systems.Minitab Software and StatisticalProcess Control. CompetencyProfile Self-motivated, safety motivated,continuous learner, and highly organized with the ability to manage multipleand concurrent priorities.Excellent interpersonal skills,professional attitude, and the ability to interact with various individuals andpresent information effectively to an audience of various technicalbackgrounds.Advanced negotiation skills,analytical, and problem-solving abilities.Data driver, customer-oriented, and notreluctant to take the lead.Excellent influencing anddecision-making abilities.Results-oriented with the abilityto balance other business and departmental strategic goals and objectives withtheir own.
