Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a prominent energy provider, is in search of three Mechanical Engineers to support a project at a significant power station undergoing a transition from coal to heavy fuel oil as its primary fuel source. This project entails the construction of two new heavy fuel oil tanks, installation of new auxiliary boilers, implementation of a new ash injection system, upgrades to existing HFO systems, ancillary system installation, and modifications to site infrastructure.The client requires candidates available for immediate contract work until the anticipated project completion in February 2026.The successful candidates will be responsible for the following roles:Role 1: Mechanical Engineer overseeing inspection, repairs, and potential upgrades of Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) systems and other piping systems, such as Propane, Diesel, and steam lines. Additionally, managing the mechanical installation of four new ash injection systems.Role 2: Mechanical Engineer managing the mechanical installation of two new 22MW auxiliary boilers onsite, including necessary tie-in works, construction of a dedicated boiler house, exhaust stack, and blowdown tank.Role 3: Mechanical Engineer supervising the mechanical installation of new HFO tanks onsite, integration with existing systems, upgrades to the HFO Forwarding pump house, and related works.Essential Criteria:Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience in the power generation industry.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Experience in construction projects, especially in power generation.Site experience with mechanical plant installation, including turbines, compressors, pumps, piping, tanks, and valves.Proficiency in Health, Safety, and Environment Standards and procedures.Ability to thrive in a challenging, deadline-driven environment.Highly innovative, detail-oriented, and motivated.Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.Desirable Criteria:Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Chartered Engineer Status.Experience working with utilities in the public sector.
