Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with a focus on advanced engineering analysis using OrcaFlex software. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering cutting-edge solutions for offshore and subsea engineering projects. Your expertise in mechanical design and dynamic analysis will support the development, optimization, and assurance of key engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed engineering analysis using OrcaFlex to assess the behaviour and performance of offshore systems such as risers, moorings, cables, and pipelines.
  • Interpret and validate results from dynamic simulations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical analysis into broader project scopes.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers in the use of OrcaFlex and related analytical tools.
  • Contribute to the conceptual and detailed design of offshore mechanical systems, ensuring robust and efficient solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry developments, including emerging technologies, software updates, and engineering best practices.
  • Engage with clients to understand requirements, define project scopes, and ensure deliverables meet expectations.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in mechanical or offshore engineering, with a focus on analysis.
  • Proficiency in OrcaFlex software, including experience with dynamic analysis and system modelling.
  • Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of mechanical principles, hydrodynamics, and subsea system behaviour.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., DNVGL, API, ISO) and best practices for offshore engineering.
  • Experience with data interpretation and reporting to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and lead technical projects in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with complementary analysis tools such as Abaqus, ANSYS, or MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of offshore energy systems, including renewables (e.g., floating wind turbines) and oil & gas infrastructure.
  • Project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and client engagement.

In return:

You will have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects within the renewables and offshore sectors. Working in a collaborative work environment that fosters innovation and professional growth. Providing ongoing professional development opportunities, including training in cutting-edge engineering tools and techniques.
