The Mechanical Engineer will be required to work full-time at the Chickamauga Office at Chickamauga Lock & Dam and shall typically work at the office five (5) days a week, Monday through Friday. Must be a US .
Experience should generally include professional mechanical engineering and construction management support performing tasks such as:
• Serving as a general project engineer providing professional and technical leadership guidance
• Expertise in managing contractor executed construction projects on behalf of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
• Serving as the organizational subject matter expert regarding standards and practices for mechanical or electrical engineering construction for features of large civil works construction projects such as multi-purpose dams and river navigation structures.
• Participating in design reviews and providing comments on contractor submitted mechanical or electrical engineering designs and plans
• Providing quality assurance oversight and documentation of such oversight
• Recommending corrective actions as required to ensure high quality performance on contractor executed mechanical or electrical engineering projects or project tasks
• Assisting the appointed contracting officer's representative and/or engineer in interpreting and enforcing contractual provisions regarding contractor mechanical or electrical engineering requirements and deliverables
• Recommending authorization of progress payments based on observed contract progress to established quality standards and specifications
• Experience with the USACE Management System (RMS), if any
Preference will be given to personnel with demonstrated experience in areas such as
Experience with mechanical equipment and features:
a. Lock operating machinery and utilities
b. Hydraulic fluid power systems, hydraulic controls, and valves
c. Raw water pumps, plumbing, control valves, gate sprinklers, hose, and tubing
d. Machine drive and power transmission for gears, drive shafts, couplings rods
e. Lubrication systems for machine components
f. Compressed air
g. Sanitary systems
h. Heating, ventilating, air conditioning for small buildings
i. Fire protection systems
Requirements:
Personnel should be able to display a minimum of 10 years of experience with construction and / or engineering design and be licensed as a PE in any state in their respective field.
Mechanical Engineers shall have bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering.
