About the opportunity: Senior Mechanical Engineer


We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help us achieve our company mission. The Mechanical Team is responsible for preparing technical reports, studies, and design documents, performing calculations using engineering software, and preparing specifications for complex mechanical equipment and support systems. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in process system design and will be capable of developing design documents, including piping and instrument diagrams and equipment data sheets that incorporate the applicable design and safety requirements. C&I is a full-service engineering design firm providing engineering/design/project management and procurement services to various clients in oil & gas, food & beverage, and distilled spirits.


Responsibilities include:

  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work independently as a Mechanical Project Lead including planning, coordinating, effort estimating, forecasting, preparing technical documents, checking, and delegating work on complex equipment and piping projects.
  • Must develop, interpret, and review utility & process P&IDs, and line designation tables.
  • Develop equipment datasheets, specifications, technical bid evaluations, and construction scope of work documents.
  • Perform detailed analysis and comprehensive calculations related to rotating and fixed equipment and mechanical systems. (Piping stress analysis experience is desirable).
  • Review and comment on vendor submittals.
  • Travel to client sites or vendor locations for equipment inspection, and coordinate with clients as needed.


What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering program with a minimum of 6 years of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering technology program with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge/experience of rotating and fixed equipment & mechanical piping systems.
  • Driver’s License


Qualifications that set you apart:

  • General working knowledge/experience with fixed equipment, rotating mechanical systems, metallurgy, and welding
  • General understanding of ASME, NPFA, API, HI, NEMA, Welding, and other common industry guidelines
  • Prior Leadership experience
