Sr. Network and Cloud Engineer - Remote, USA

Position Summary:


The Senior Network & Cloud Engineer is an enthusiastic technical professional supporting all levels of IT network and cloud/SaaS operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining functional network infrastructure both on-prem and in the cloud. They will be responsible for resolving issues that tiers of support have escalated, mentoring team members, and addressing user needs while supporting all security evolution and compliance auditing as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop programs/procedures to enhance the Cloud/LAN/WAN & SaaS operation, security, and performance.
  • Provides technical expertise in network topology development, implementation, and assessment of network technologies.
  • Keep abreast of technological changes for Cloud/LAN/WAN products and recommend those products.
  • Perform or assist in formal assessments or audits of the Cloud and network infrastructure.
  • Perform Cloud/LAN/WAN-related assignments, such as budget assistance, preventive maintenance issues, and support for hardware and operating systems acquired in the future, as requested by the Vice President of IT.
  • Attend classes and trade shows related to the Cloud industry.
  • Configure, implement, maintain, distribute, and document network hardware and software.
  • Monitor, manage, and document Cloud connectivity performance.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery procedures.
  • Provide second-level end-user support as needed.
  • Act as an internal consultant to other IT functions and business groups as appropriate.
  • Work with the vendor and users in the planning, implementation, change control, testing, documentation, performance monitoring, capacity planning, problem resolution, and disaster recovery setup for Cloud, internet, or network-specific related platforms.
  • Work with the vendor, users, and security specialists in the security administration for Cloud, internet, or network-specific related platforms.
  • Work with Security Specialists and Engineering teams to ensure the hardening of any systems and devices and that patches are applied as necessary.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the installation and support of information LAN/WAN network infrastructure and support of on-prem & cloud storage solutions.
  • Be a go-getter implementing and supporting networked environments with a passion for learning new technology and documenting your knowledge for your peers.
  • Manufacture certifications are a plus.
  • Solid understanding of the OSI/TCP/IP Models
  • Experience building and supporting IPV6
  • Selecting, implementing, and supporting third-party vendor solutions
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the installation and support of Cloud-based services
  • Experience leading in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Experience managing highly available disaster-resistant global wide area networks.
  • Strong experience with formal Disaster Recovery planning and processes.
  • Experience in colocation environments and hybrid cloud network configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with network performance monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics solutions.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Experience supporting core business application day-to-day operations, process transformation activity
