SOS Technology Group Senior Engineer (Hybrid Workplace)
Objective and Purpose:
The successful candidate will interface with our clients and collaborate with other internal team members to resolve IT issues. This position requires a skilled individual who possesses outstanding communication andorganizational skills, and who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Position reports directly to the Help Desk Manager.
Functions:
- Act as an escalation point for Tier 2 Support Technicians
- Provide assistance to Tier 2 Support Techs, when necessary
- Research and resolve complex issues requiring detailed systems and applications knowledge
- Configure and install deployed systems, as needed.
- Interface with customers regarding vendors equipment and software to resolve customer concerns
- Assist in the development of procedures and training materials to train users in the proper use of hardware or software.
- Create and maintain knowledge base articles to foster customer self-help tools available on-line.
- Additional duties as assigned
Typical Work Expectations:
- Configure, assess and resolve Windows Hyper V and Vmware Environments
- Diagnostics of Network Related Issues on Servers, PCs, and other Networked Devices via Firewall
- Troubleshooting complex software related issues impacting performance of end users
- Troubleshooting and solving server and network device issues
- Executing Assigned Projects in conjunction with Software, Desktop, Server Migrations, Installations and Upgrades

- Ability to comfortably and energetically present solutions to clients and SOS Staff by phone, chat, email or in-person

Expectations:
- This position is primarily office location based. May require travel around the local Baltimore area
- Candidates must have reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work extended weekday and weekend hours,as needed
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, and how they function in a network environment.
- Understanding of Windows Active Directory, Email, and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Knowledge and Familiarity with networking hardware and software (Routers, Access Points, and Switches).
- Knowledge of Desktop Operating Systems, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11
- Knowledge of Server Operating Systems, Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019
- Knowledge of Azure Active Directory and Virtual Environments
- Demonstrated Technical Support Experience
