JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Network Engineer II/III

Senior Network Engineer II/III: This is an ADVANCED position for a LAN/WLAN/WAN Senior Network Engineer. A successful candidate for the job will demonstrate an ability to deploy, implement, configure, troubleshoot, and proactively manage network infrastructure with an emphasis on security.

Senior Network Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Network switch configuration and troubleshooting including VLANs, Spanning-Tree, LACP LAGs, ACLs and 802.1x port security.
  • Network routing configuration and troubleshooting including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, static routing, VRRP, QoS, NAT and IPSec VPN tunnels.
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of redundant WAN connectivity using both basic failover and load balancing.
  • Firewall configuration and troubleshooting including access rules, NAT/PAT policies, and security policies (including IPS, gateway anti-virus, content filtering, etc.).
  • Wireless network configuration and troubleshooting including wireless controllers (physical and virtual), AP channel and Tx power settings, 802.1x security, ACLs, mDNS forwarding and broadcast/multicast traffic management.
  • Physical connectivity troubleshooting of links using CAT 5e/6/6A copper, single-mode fiber and multi-mode fiber media types in 1-gigabit and multi-gigabit varieties.
  • Management and configuration of network hardware including Cisco routers, HP/Aruba switches, Cisco Switches, Cisco ASA firewalls, FortiGate firewalls, SonicWALL firewalls, Aruba access points and controllers, Meraki access points and other network equipment as needed.
  • Management and configuration of software for RADIUS authentication, NetFlow/sFlow reporting and network monitoring.
  • Troubleshooting: Quickly identify in-progress problems and/or opportunities to optimize performance while meeting schedules. Troubleshooting tasks from remote location. On-site troubleshooting if remote troubleshooting fails.
  • Recommend and perform needed maintenance, upgrades and installations to ensure optimal and secure environments for MSP customers and for post-sales implementation services.
  • Problem solving skills: Demonstrates logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Assist in the overall security design and performance of the networks.
  • Time management skills required to meet internal procedure schedules and client deadlines.
  • Possess written skills to convey actions taken and required next steps in ALL assigned service and project tickets.
  • Fast-paced environment demands flexibility to adapt to change, problem solving/root cause analysis and concise communication of solutions.
  • Documenting changes, creating/updating network diagrams, post-implementation testing.
  • Must have worked as a key member on multiple network infrastructure implementations.
  • Must be able to work independently to complete tasks and as a team member, who can integrate tasks into unified solutions.
  • Demonstrate initiative in learning new technologies and a commitment to go the extra mile to achieve the best outcomes for our customers.
  • Communication capabilities: Possess ability to professionally interact with clients and speak in user-friendly , to present IT solutions to clients. Must be able to provide concise technical input to the team.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS or related technical degree.
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, switches and wireless infrastructure.
  • Current Windows Server Platform Experience is a plus
  • Network Infrastructure certification (e.g. CCNP, CCDP, Aruba) a plus
