Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Operations is a leadership role in the Operations Department responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Museum. Reporting to the Chief Finance & Operations Officer (CFOO), this position is responsible for directly supervising designated independent contributors and designated departments under Operations, supporting multiple operational departments, coordinating projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the best possible experience for guests.


Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with the CFOO to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • General supervision and oversight of staff and designated departments under the scope of the Operations department:
  • Facilities & Exhibits
  • Reservations/Celebrations
  • Memberships
  • Museum Store
  • Confidently access and produce reports from Museum’s POS system and database (TAM). Prepare and interpret reports to meet analytical and strategic needs of the Operations Department.
  • Evaluates data and anecdotal evidence to foster membership growth and retention.
  • Prepare and deliver reports detailing visitor and program data, as it relates to designated departments, to Museum Management and Senior Leadership.
  • Collaborates with the CFOO and those within scope of oversight to improve efficiencies and create sales growth opportunities within their departments.
  • Works directly with the Operational Maintenance Technician to complete tasks as assigned and with preventative strategies to ensure the building is running effectively and maintains good condition.

Education and/or Experience:

5+ years of supervisory experience

Operations experience with increasing responsibility

Bachelor’s degree .


Supervisory Responsibility:

Facilities Department, Reservations and Memberships/Store Coordinators, and additional staff as assigned.

  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Independent body mobility to access a standard office environment with shelves and drawers of varying heights.
  • Vision sufficient to read a computer screen, 12 point and finer printed text, and handwritten documents.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis.
  • Speak and hear sufficiently to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and in small groups.
  • Mental stamina for problem solving and dealing with stressful situations; prioritizing multiple tasks; interpreting and applying oral/written instructions.
  • Ability to bend, carry, reach to the side, front and overhead, push, pull, walk, stand, twist and squat, grab, squeeze are repetitive motions required of the position.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor elements including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and wind.
  • Occasionally exposed to moderate noise in and around exhibits.
  • Occasionally exposed to small and/or enclosed spaces.

This is a full-time, on-site position, and the pay is $31.25-$33.65 per hour based on experience.

Schedule: Thursday-Monday, 8:30am-5pm.
