Senior Production Engineer

The Company



Our Worcestershire based client is a well-established, leader in the manufacture engineered products for the automotive and transportation markets. Working across a wide variety of sectors, including Rail, Defence, Automotive and Aerospace, they manufacture high quality products and assemblies for an impressive array of customers.



Due to their growth, they are seeking a Senior Production Engineer to work with the manufacturing teams in developing cost effective and efficient production methods and plans to meet customer requirements whilst complying with relevant standards.

The Role



* Be able to translate customer drawings and specifications into BOM’s and the company MRP Systems



* Provide Production Engineering input as required to future business opportunities / bids



* Ensure the integrity of systems data, including MRP system is maintained to latest standards / versions, and is robust



* Provide technical support to Production, and Inspection personnel, ensuring all queries are addressed in a timely order



* Evaluation of ‘Build’ documentation, identifying opportunities for improvements and further requirements



* Promote the planning and co-ordination of effective production and quality product(s)



* Fully understand the client brief, design requirements, and production specification



* Take an active role in the project management cycle of the manufacturing of the product



* Manage Process Procedures and Work Instructions



* As appropriate, interface with existing, and potential customers



* Produce and maintain associated documentation, including Process Instructions, Test Instructions, and BOM’s, as applicable



* Utilising the business MRP system for costing of materials



* Generating, analyse and process ECN requests and applications of non-conformances, technical concerns, Engineering Change Notification, FAIR’s, and Concessions



* Establish strategy and best practices, to compliment and ensure achievement of key business objectives and work specifically to meet performance goals and departmental objectives including KPI’s



Ideal Qualifications and Experience



* HNC / HND / Degree in a manufacturing / engineering discipline



* A member of, or working towards a membership of a relevant engineering institution (IMechE, IET, etc.)



Essential Experience



* Minimum of 3 years current experience within a similar position, industry, and engineering environment (mechanical and electrical systems)



* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings



* A sound background and experience of document and data control



* Quality aware and experience of working within a customer focused environment



* Experience with detailed report writing, WI’s, PI’s, QA, and Safety



Desirable Experience



* Qualified / current experience of using Lean Six Sigma



* Planning experience, NPI, and product life cycle



* Experience of working within the guidelines of BS EN ISO 9001, 14001, 45001-(18001), 3834, EN 15085



* Experience of working within industries of Defence, Aerospace, Rail, and application of Def-Stan / Mil-Std, and RIS



* A member of, or working towards membership of a relevant engineering institution (IMechE, IET, etc.)
