Senior Project Engineer

You are an Engineering Professional with at least five years’ experience of running projects in the offshore energy industry. This experience will include running a team, client interaction, project financial forecasting, testing, load out, operations and service quality management. You may come from a background any engineering discipline, mechanical or electrical.
 
Who is our client?
 
They are an EPIC energy engineering contractor and OEM who specialise in providing equipment and engineered solutions to the offshore energy industry from their office in Aberdeen.
 
What is the role?
 
This is a full-time, permanent position. Reporting to the Projects Manager, the role is to take responsibility for the control and delivery of projects through to successful final offshore installation against a defined project plan within agreed timeframes. You will also undertake the duties of a line manager for staff assigned to you, taking responsibility for supporting their development and growth as Engineers, providing support and coaching.
 
What will my day-to-day duties look like?
 

  • Managing your team in the completion of all allocated projects/project.
  • Providing expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • To act as the project focal point identifying commercial, contractual, design and schedule risks.
  • Technical support to Sales in the preparation of bids and quotations.
  • Define, manage and drive the project delivery schedule.
  • Act as a mentor to graduates and/or project engineers within the team.
  • Ensure financial management systems are current and reflect actual progress and forecast costs.
  • Prepare project user requirements, documentation and manuals.
  • Ownership of ordering material / services in good time to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure all of the project “gates” have been followed, project controls and deliverables met.
  • Lead meetings with the design team and instigate and actively participate in Design reviews.
  • Own and present to Directors reviews on Project Progress.
  • Instigate HAZID and HAZOP meetings (as necessary).
  • As necessary undertake the role of line manager to project engineers.
  • Monitoring of project cash flow.
  • Management of a variety of construction/engineering contracts.
  • Review of suppliers to ensure that accounts and timeframes are correct.
  • Reporting of all technical, operational, contractual, claims, and financial matters.
  • Assist Sales and Operations in providing technical guidance where appropriate.
  • Approval of Purchase Orders and Invoices in line with the project requirements/budgets.
  • Checking and approval of detailed technical documents, reports and drawings.
  • Supervision of site work, including offshore, if required.
  • Assist in Client visits/technical presentations.
