I’m currently recruting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work for a large civils contractor on a major infrastructure project in Carlisle on a permanent contract.
The Job: Harker Sub Station (Carlisle, CA6 4EZ)
* £200m project in total but Civil works amounts to 15 Million
* Substation expansion project
* HV Works
Commercial Team:
* Team consists of Commercial Manager (Starting 1st September)
* 2 x SQS
* 1 x QS
The Candidate:
* Require NEC Contracts experience
* Wants someone local who can work on site 4 days a week
* Would take someone with sub-contractor experience, procurement, reporting
* Previous experience working energy projects is advantageous but not essential
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction or engineering sectors.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts, tender processes, and cost control mechanisms.
* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
* Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable but not essential
Duties
* Managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects.
* Ensuring projects are completed within the projected budget.
* Providing financial and commercial advice to the project team.
* Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
* Monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle.
* Identifying, analyzing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
* Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts.
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards.
The Package:
* £45k - £55k
* Company car or car allowance (Car grade C)
* 40 hours a week
