Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Overview:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will oversee the cost management, contract administration, and financial reporting across multiple projects within the group. This role requires extensive experience in managing multiple projects from design through to production and installation. The Senior QS will collaborate with various departments across the group to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


Main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts for construction projects.
  • Lead the preparation, monitoring, and control of detailed project budgets for multiple projects within the group. Ensure effective financial planning from the design stage through to completion, ensuring all costs are tracked and reported accurately.
  • Manage and administer contracts with Clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors across various projects. Ensure that contractual obligations are met, and resolve any contractual issues or claims that arise.
  • Oversee the tendering process across the group’s projects, preparing tender documents, bills of quantities, and pricing schedules. Evaluate tenders, negotiate contracts, and manage procurement of materials and services to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Prepare and submit payment applications to clients, ensuring alignment with the progress of work and contract terms. Conduct detailed valuations of completed work for subcontractors and vendors, ensuring timely and accurate payment certifications.
  • Manage project changes and variations, ensuring that all changes are properly documented, costed, and approved by the relevant stakeholders. Provide ongoing assessments of variations and ensure they are integrated into the project budget and schedule.
  • Regularly update and prepare cost reports, providing detailed forecasts of final project costs across the group. Present financial updates to senior management and project teams, highlighting any potential cost risks or savings.
  • Identify and assess financial risks associated with various projects, proposing mitigation strategies to ensure cost control. Ensure all financial risks are managed according to the group’s policies and procedures.
  • Act as the financial liaison between different departments within the group, ensuring clear communication and coordination of financial and contractual matters across all projects.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a senior QS role, with experience managing multiple projects.
  • Strong contract management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in preparing tender documents, pricing schedules, and bills of quantities.
  • Proven experience in managing variations, claims, and extension of time applications.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Professional membership in RICS or other relevant institutions (added advantage)
