We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of a £32m DFE secondary school project in Cambridge. This complex new build and refurbishment project involves phased construction, pupil segregation, and re-measurable refurbishment, requiring a QS with strong contractual and cost management skills.

Currently in the PCSA phase for another two months, the project will start on-site in June 2025. The role requires immediate commercial input for market testing packages, finalising the main contract price, securing the contract, and managing the project on-site through completion.

  • Support finalisation of the main contract price.
  • Assist in securing the main contract before site commencement.
  • Project Delivery:
  • Oversee cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
  • Manage contract administration and change control.
  • Ensure accurate valuation of works and submission of payment applications.
  • Lead risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure smooth delivery, considering pupil segregation and phased handovers.
  • Stakeholder & Client Management:
  • Liaise with DFE representatives, consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Provide commercial leadership and strategic advice.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual and financial obligations.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or a Project QS ready to step up.
  • Prior experience managing DFE-funded school projects is essential.
  • Strong understanding of JCT contracts and re-measurable refurbishment projects.
  • Expertise in cost planning, procurement, and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage phased construction projects with live environments.

Why Join Us?

  • Work within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Career progression opportunities in a growing company.
