Aragen Bioscience, Inc. is a contract research services organization that provides a of services including molecular and cellular biology, stable cell line development, protein purification and process development as well as customized immunology and pre-clinical in vivo services for the global biotech and biopharmaceutical industry. Aragen's offices and labs are in Morgan Hill, California, at the south end of the Silicon Valley. Morgan Hill is within 20 minutes car commute from San Jose with reverse traffic during rush hours.


Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist to join our Preclinical Research Services team focused on assay development for cell biology and immunology applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in molecular and cellular biology assay development techniques, with at least 5-10 years of experience in drug development setting. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing, and validating assays used in drug discovery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assay Development: Design, optimize, and validate cell-based and biochemical assays to assess immune responses, protein interactions, and cellular pathways involved in disease.
  • Experimental Execution: Conduct experiments involving primary human and animal cells, immune cells, and cell lines, using a variety of techniques including flow cytometry, ELISA, PCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence, MSD and microscopy.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze experimental data, summarize findings, and prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with scientists from immunology, cell biology, and drug discovery teams to understand project goals and integrate assay development into larger research programs.
  • Assay Automation & High-Throughput Screening: Develop and implement high-throughput screening methods to evaluate the effects of various compounds or biologicals on immune cell function, including T-cell activation, cytokine production, and immune cell proliferation.
  • Quality Control & Troubleshooting: Ensure that all assays meet the required accuracy, precision, and reproducibility parameters. Troubleshoot experimental challenges and optimize protocols to improve assay performance.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and experimental records in compliance with organizational standards.


Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, preferably in an industry setting related to drug discovery.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in cell culture techniques, including primary cells and immortalized cell lines.
    • Experience with flow cytometry, ELISA, western blotting, PCR, and microscopy.
    • Familiarity with range of assays using established protocols or developing customized protocols for robust and reliable assays.
    • Knowledge of high-throughput screening platforms is desirable.
    • Detail oriented and consistent in quality and execution is mandatory
  • Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex experimental results and troubleshoot assay issues.
  • Communication skills: This is a customer facing role and would require excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise with a wide variety of cell-based assays and evaluation of multiple readouts.
  • Experience in screening compounds on a variety of cell-based and cell-free assays
