Plan, direct and complete a wide range of environmental projects by applying knowledge of scientific and environmental principles and practices to specific problems. Train and direct a project team on multi-disciplinary projects. A fully competent project manager and professional in all conventional aspects. Independently performs most assignments. Performs specific marketing duties and implements established marketing goals for the department and company.

  • Manage complex projects and direct a project team where multiple disciplines may be required from proposal stage to completion including client interaction, establishing and monitoring project budget, work scheduling, interpreting implications of complex data, reviewing and approving reports, invoicing and quality control.
  • Conduct environmental evaluations including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Remedial Investigations and develop and implement corrective action design alternatives.
  • Conduct site evaluations including feasibility and design studies, construction supervision, and equipment start-up and operation.
  • Prepare technical reports of environmental evaluations including recommendations.
  • Prepare permit applications including air, wastewater, and stormwater and provide advice to clients regarding compliance with regulations and environmental impacts of their operations.
  • Design and supervise monitoring programs for data collection.
  • Critically review, revise, and sign technical reports and correspondence prepared by other staff.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of applicable regulations, policies, procedures and technologies in designated field(s).
  • Represent AET by presenting ideas, solutions, and innovative advancements to clients, peer groups, public audiences, and regulatory agencies and in professional publications.
  • Maintain AET’s productivity standards.
  • Must provide quality of service and work product that meets or exceeds AET’s expectations.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This role will have direct responsible for ensuring deadlines and performance standards are met by coaching and counseling associates, organizing and evaluating work flow and results along with implementing policies and procedures those that directly report this role. Also, may provide work direction to field scientist, and technician.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, environmental science, or other appropriate scientific discipline with a minimum of 10 years related experience; OR
  • Advanced degree in geology, engineering, environmental science, or other appropriate scientific discipline with 8 or more years of related experience.

Skills

  • Professional registration with one or more state licensing board (PE, PG).
  • Detailed knowledge of principles and practices in more than one specialty area; OR
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of principles within a specialty area.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing timely, accurate, and detailed project documentation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in report writing.
  • Experience in reviewing test results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Communication skills sufficient to convey complex technical information in a clear manner to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of people, work effectively within project teams, resolve issues and problems in a constructive manner, and work independently in the field.
  • Capable of the physical labor required including work at hazardous waste sites, with personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to:
    1. Frequently lift 30-60 pounds from the floor to 2 feet.
    2. Occasionally lift 60-100 pounds from the floor to 2 feet.
    3. Frequently carry 30-60 pounds for 10-30 feet.
    4. Occasionally carry 60-100 pounds for 10-30 feet.
    5. Stand for up to 8 hours, often on uneven surfaces.
    6. Stand and move for up to 8 hours, with frequent bending and stooping.

Pay Transparency

Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $92,000 and $113,000 per year based on skill set and experience. The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Work Environment  

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This position also may require field work in outdoor conditions on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands or finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-100 pounds. The employee will occasionally push or pull equipment weighing up to 200 pounds. The employee is required to frequently work outside.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
