About this Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Level 3 Software Engineer (SWE) to support the CASA Compute Environment (CCE) SaaS team. This team provides containerized services within a Kubernetes cluster, enabling customers to access on-demand solutions like GitLab CI/CD, Jupyter Notebooks, MinIO, and other advanced tools. You will be at the forefront of maintaining and troubleshooting containerized applications, assisting customers, and developing software to enhance CCE functionality. This is a dynamic and rewarding role offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies while directly impacting mission-critical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy complex software systems in line with documented requirements.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of containerized applications and services.
  • Support CCE customers via Hustle channels and help desk tickets, providing solutions to technical challenges.
  • Develop new software functionality and services to enhance the CCE platform.
  • Create and maintain Helm Charts for Kubernetes and containerized services using Docker.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance metrics.
  • Ensure software and systems meet operational specifications and adhere to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless software integration and deployment.
  • Serve as a technical lead, mentoring team members and ensuring project objectives are met.

Key Technologies and SkillsRequired Skills

  • Proficiency with Linux CLI and Bash/Python scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with containerized applications using Docker.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining Helm Charts for Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience developing services and troubleshooting within Kubernetes environments.
  • Strong customer support and outreach capabilities.

Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with updating containerized applications for compliance with STE/STN requirements.
  • Proficiency in developing with REST APIs.
  • Expertise in the Atlassian Tool Suite (Bitbucket, Confluence, Jira).
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, including AWS, and to present solutions to the CCE user community.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree: Computer Science or related field, with five (5) years of experience as a SWE on projects of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Computer Science or related field, with seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • No Degree Alternative: Nine (9) years of relevant software engineering experience in similar programs and contracts.
  • Clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph 
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S.

Work Environment and On-Call Requirements

  • On-Call Support:
    • Support includes 6 am to 6 pm standard business day coverage and 24x7 after-hours on-call support on a rotational basis (approximately every 4-5 weeks).
    • New team members will not join the rotation until they complete 3-6 months of training.
    • Teams ensure coverage through coordinated schedules and provide backup support for new members during their initial on-call rotations.

Compensation Range: $179,000.00 - $215,000.00 *
*The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role. Please note that this range is intended as a guideline and is subject to flexibility.
