Senior Solar Engineer
Wood’s Renewables Project Development & Engineering Consulting business is currently seeking a Senior PV Design Engineer to join our team.In this exciting role, the ideal candidate will leverage their knowledge of utility scale photovoltaic (PV) solar design, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) design, equipment selection, energy yield analysis, and layout optimization to produce quality designs for our clients. The position will include regular interface with clients, project managers, civil engineers, and electrical engineers. The role will also include opportunities to train entry-level designers and engineers.This role may be a fully remote role or a semi-remote role located close to one of our hubs in Austin, TX, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, Greenville, SC, or Vancouver. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable engineering, other engineering disciplines, economics, statistics, or closely related technical field. Master’s degree an asset. 5+ years of related work experience in the development, design, construction, commissioning, and/or operation of PV solar, BESS or hybrid projects - must have independently completed a solar layout in current or previous role Proficient in Pvsyst software Proficient in AutoCAD software Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Understanding of PV design concepts such as module technologies, single axis trackers, fixed tilt systems, power conversion equipment such as inverters and transformers, string sizing, DC/AC ratio, GCR, etc. Ability to produce high-quality technical reports Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to multi-task and manage several projects concurrently Ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team on a daily basis A flexible and proactive approach to project delivery with good organizational skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Field experience considered an asset Bilingualism an asset Must be a US Citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood undefined
