The Service Controls Engineer is responsible for all field installations, start-up, commissioning, and servicing of automated equipment. The position involves working closely with the entire service team, service and installation manager, and the assembly team leader. This position requires individual performance within a team environment. Service Controls Engineer reports directly to the engineering manager while taking direction from the service and installation manager and working closely with the entire service and project teams. Service Team will be asked to assist with the development and training of new team members and work study students.
Responsibilities
• Read and troubleshoot programming, on a variety of programmable logic controller platforms including but not limiting to Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC.
• Human machine interface programming using a variety of HMI platforms.
• Robot program integration with PLC & HMI programs.
• Ability to edit an assortment of programming styles.
• Troubleshoot control circuits both AC and DC.
• Interaction with management, sales, engineering, production, and clients.
• Working closely with the service technicians and assembly team.
• Provide manufacturing support, de-bug, and final qualification of the equipment.
• Provide field support for new installations including startup and final tuning.
• Develop scope of future service work, modifications and repairs.
• Identify potential failures to provide more durable resolutions to continue developing process improvements.
• Document processes to produce timely detailed service reports.
• Support marketing efforts in developing new business.
• Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating work with other team members.
• Ability to work on multiple projects as well as be a member of a cross functional team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with team members and clients.
Requirements
• Proven experience as controls engineer or previous lead electrical service technician.
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service automated equipment.
• Ability to travel, work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedule.
• Technical degree and/or certifications are a plus.
• Excellent communication, customer relations, interpersonal, and diagnostic skills
