Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fabrication Manager to oversee our structural steel and pipe shop operations. The ideal candidate will have strong proven leadership abilities, knowledge of best practices for manufacturing layouts and hands on experience in the structural steel fabrication and pipe welding processes. This position will manage personnel ensuring the successful production of high-quality fabricated components in accordance with our clients requirements while adhering to the highest safety standards. Position requires management of multiple subordinates at multiple manufacturing facilities. Reliant on job, project facilities have the potential to run on a 24/7 schedule.

This is a salaried position. Travel < 25%

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee daily operations of fabrication facilities, ensuring efficiency, quality, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Design and optimize manufacturing layouts, implement Lean manufacturing principles, and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency, minimize waste, maximize resource utilization, and reduce costs.
  • Manage, coordinate, and schedule the activities of crews and skilled workforce.
  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing layouts to improve productivity, minimize waste, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Ensure proper procurement, material control, and distribution to workstations.
  • Implement and oversee best practices for fabrication, including AISC, ASME, API, Lean Sigma principles.
  • Manage financial aspects of operations, including budgeting, cost controls, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and oversee completion of required reports and documentation.
  • Lead and develop employees by setting performance standards, monitoring progress, and providing mentorship.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, technical professionals, and leadership to ensure timely and professional project execution.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to optimize shop layouts for new projects.
  • Project management software Computer Ease, Procore, SharePoint, Microsoft Office
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's/Technical degree , will discuss professional experience in lieu of bachelor's/technical degree requirement.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
  • Strong managerial skills with the ability to oversee operations, budgets, and personnel effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of fabrication techniques, workflow optimization, and quality control.
  • Expertise in material controls, procurement, logistics, and shipping of raw and fabricated materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project specifications, and industry standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to lead teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management software, and scheduling tools.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English is required.
  • Industry certifications such as AISC, ASME, API, Lean Sigma, and other leadership certifications are desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around fabrication facilities for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing, kneeling, and crouching to inspect work areas and equipment.
  • Work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and industrial hazards.
  • Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment, tools, and computer systems.
  • Visual acuity to read blueprints, specifications, and monitor production quality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a noisy or active industrial environment.
