About the Project John Holland in partnership with McConnell Dowell (Joint Venture) are delivering the Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project in Far North Queensland. This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville). The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods. This project received funding from ARENA as part of ARENA's Advancing Renewables Program and is a gamechanger for the clean energy industry worldwide as it is an entirely new approach to large-scale energy storage. Great opportunity for an up and coming Site Engineer who has a mechanical basis to experience work on a industry leading FIFO project .  Responsibilities of the role Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement procurement strategies for mechanical and process equipment that align with project requirements and organizational goals.  Supplier Management: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of equipment.  Cost Control: Monitor and manage procurement budgets, ensuring that all procurement activities are executed within financial constraints.  Technical Specifications: Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and ensure that purchased equipment meets all specifications and quality standards.  Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier correspondence.  Compliance: Ensure all procurement processes adhere to relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.  What we are looking for Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.  An advanced level of experience in procurement within the engineering or construction industry, with a focus on mechanical and process equipment.  Strong negotiation and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage supplier relationships and drive cost savings.  In-depth understanding of mechanical and process equipment specifications and procurement practices  Familiarity with procurement software and tools, as well as standard office applications.  As part of the team, you help us deliver on our promise to transform lives Your success is reflected in ours, so we're committed to being an employer of choice.
