What You'll Do:
In the Site Safety Coordinator role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of agency clients and property by preventing disruptive behavior or damage to equipment or property, by monitoring activities inside and outside agency facilities, and working alongside a comprehensive team of skilled professionals to promote a safe environment for clients, visitors, and staff, in support of the mission and objectives of Interfaith Community Services.
- Provides a visible presence inside and outside agency facilities
- Maintains a safe and secure environment for clients, visitors, and staff (drug, alcohol, violence free)
- Responds to and investigates reports of suspicious behavior to prevent illegal or inappropriate activities, loitering, theft, unsafe conditions, and potential conflicts
- Conducts welfare checks on clients within the premises
- Performs security and safety sweeps of the building once an hour
- Secures windows, doors, building entrances, etc. at the proper time and sequence
- Warns violators of policy infractions and removes clients barred from agency premises
- Observes and reports any unusual activity or potentially dangerous situation(s)
- Notifies Police if a situation escalates or presents a danger
- Promptly notifies supervisor (as well as other appropriate staff) of any problematic client behaviors, compliance issues, or any other problems that arise
- Accurately records all emergency, disciplinary, and other events that occur during scheduled shift
- Immediately reports medical emergencies to the appropriate agencies/organizations; administers First Aid/CPR and follows agency protocol and standard procedures in emergency situations
- Ensures towels are laundered and ready for use within the shelter and kitchen
- Assists kitchen staff with clean up (wash dishes, clean counters, etc.)
- Assists facilities team with minor maintenance (replace lightbulbs, trash disposal, etc.)
- Demonstrates a good role model and routinely interacts with clients in a fair and consistent manner
- Maintains effective communication with staff on a continual basis
- Keeps staff and management informed of any problems or potential problem areas, including drug use and any other discipline issues
- Conducts inspections and searches as assigned
- Participates in all staff meetings and trainings
- Ensures that properties always meet standards to pass Federal, State and Local inspections
- Coordinates utilities checks, fire drills and other checks/repairs as needed or required to maintain facility compliance with Federal, State and Local inspections
- Performs additional duties as assigned

- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Knowledge of alcohol and other drug recovery field,
- Experience working with severely mentally ill, medically fragile, and homeless population,
- Bilingual (English / Spanish),
- Certification of a Security Guard license,

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Must be able to perform work in both indoor and outdoor settings
- May be subjected to adverse conditions, including contact from hostile people
- Exposure to contagious diseases (hepatitis, HIV, tuberculous, etc.)
- Exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes, odors, dust, temperatures, noise and inclement weather
- Must have the physical ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, bend, and kneel on a frequent basis
- Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers, computers and similar office equipment and supplies
- Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking
- Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle, office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic backgrounds and origins
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low
Location: On-Site/Escondido
Hourly Rate: $19.00-$20.00, $1.00 Shift differential
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday: 6:30 pm-2:30 am
