Software Compliance Engineer, Energy

To ensure Tesla's overall mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy, the Tesla Energy team is bringing our world leading battery technology to the grid. Tesla is leveraging its breakthrough firmware, electronics, test, and manufacturing capability to develop and deploy grid connected energy storage system at residential, industrial, and utility levels. Tesla Energy compliance team is looking for an amazing software engineer who is passionate to build grid interoperability control and configuration software for residential and industrial energy products such as Powerwall, Solar Inverter, or Megapack. Responsibilities

Review and interpret specifications and requirements


Develop controls and features in product firmware and software


Implement testing and validation against software models and physical units


Support test validation and debugging in the laboratory


Communicate priorities with key stakeholders in alignment with business priorities


Support field escalations


Collaborate with the cross functional development teams to design, build and validate


Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience


Real-world experience with systems (e.g. C, C++, Rust, golang, Java, C#)


Experience with Matlab and Simulink modeling and simulation


Experience developing highly available mission-critical applications and corresponding test suites


Experience with a scripting (e.g. Python)


Experience with SIL/HIL/Integration testing


Understanding of power system, power quality, and measurement techniques such as digital and analog logging equipment, sampling rate and measurement accuracy


Experience with embedded environments/protocols, web development, data analysis/data science tools


Experience translating standards to firmware/software implementations


Strong interpersonal and communications skills

Expected Compensation

$111,200 - $246,720/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
