You’ll have end-to-end ownership over our services, collaborating with a team of bright software engineers to directly influence how billions of people discover the internet.What skills and qualifications do I need?For this role, it is essential that you have: 5+ years of programming experience in Java or equivalent Object-Oriented languageExperience developing large-scale distributed systems Deep understanding of strong Computer Science fundamentals including object-oriented design, data structures, systems, applications programming, and multithreading programmingProduction systems understanding Experience with SQL and No-SQL databasesHigh proficiency in a Linux environmentProven ability to work effectively across multiple teamsBS.c in computer science or equivalent experience Nice to have: Experience in Big Data toolsKnowledge in algorithms, data mining, and machine learning What will I be doing on a day-to-day basis?As a Software Engineer, you will: Develop and maintain one of the largest real-time high-scale operations in the world, supporting over 1.4B users and >500,000 requests per second, with 150TB of new data every dayOwn the end-to-end process: design, develop, deploy, measure, and maintain our servicesSolve production issues in the framework codeCollaborate closely with a team of bright software engineersDirectly influence the way billions of people discover the internetRoll out custom solutions such as Cassandra compaction strategy, Kafka consumer, and metrics pipeline Implement anomaly detection engines and authentication services Our Tech Stack:Java, Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, Vertica, MySQL, HDFS, BigQuery, Docker, Linux, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Metrictank, Grafana, Airflow, Redis You will work with: The people who wrote the first lines of code in Taboola (and many many more lines after that)The proud owner of a beer breweryPeople who are deeply familiar with the code of Kafka, Cassandra, AirFlow, Prometheus and Spark (including committing back)Famous internal Taboola hackathon winnersThe designers and implementers of a offheap, zero GC, Custom Kafka Producer which cumulatively sends ~100B messages / day
