Software Engineering Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Software Engineering Manager. Business: Enterprise Technology Principal responsibilities This role will carry out some or all of the following activities: Delivery: To guide and lead teams of Development Team Leaders, Development Specialists and Analyst/Developers, with a variety of specialisations through the full development life cycle Provide outstanding technical expertise, knowledge and ability with the capacity for original thinking in the design and development of effective systems solutions. Accountability to ensure that faults in production systems services are corrected in a timely manner with minimal disruption Where projects involve outside suppliers, customers or partners be responsible for technical liaison as required. Represent the Bank at external technical meetings, chairing and directing work as required. Undertake presentations to Executive Management and external bodies as required. Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Development Manager. Work closely with business and IT teams on various projects and support items, coordinate among business/IT and regional delivery teams Lead and drive the successful delivery of the HUB projects and programs Provide support across the end-to-end delivery and run lifecycle, utilizing their skills and expertise to carry out software development, testing and operational support activities with the ability to move between these according to demand. End to end accountability for a product or service, identifying and developing the most appropriate Technology solutions to meet customer needs as part of the Customer Journey Establish a digital environment and automate processes to minimize variation and ensure predictable high quality code and data. Create technical test plans and records, including unit and integration tests, within automated test environments to ensure code quality. Provide support to DevOps teams working at all stages of a product or service release/change with a strong customer focus and end to end journeys, ensuring they have an excellent domain knowledge. Provide support in identification and resolution of all incidents associated with the IT service, as directed by leadership of the DevOps team, Ensure service resilience, service sustainability and recovery time objectives are met for all the software solutions delivered. Keep up to date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc. that are applicable Financial: Manage business requirements under Agile methodology Provide a full support to maintain system operation Identifying opportunities to reduce delivery costs and refine estimation Customer: Build trust and confidence with the stakeholders thru faster time to market and quality deliverables. Always be customer focused and proactively work with business stakeholders, engagement and other service providers as appropriate to deliver stable and Cost effective solutions that meet business needs. Process: Review and drive improvements in policies, practices and procedures on an ongoing basis with the view to creating an environment of continuous improvement. Accountable for ensuring team deliverables are met within schedule, with appropriate team resource plan, risks, issues and dependencies identified and managed. People: Development and Career Planning focused on increasing peoples’ professionalism and competency. Ensures maximum utilization of staff leading to increased productivity and reduce time to market. Manage and eliminate any key person risks. Develop greater strategic partnerships with vendors creating a culture of learning and innovation through a diverse, flexible and balanced skill pool. Risk/compliance/behaviour: Ensure decisions are based on commercial acumen and risk. Align and comply with appropriate process, policies and procedures. Requirements At least 12+ years’ Experience, and at least 8 years working in core banking HUB area and been recognized as subject matter expert Solid experience on engineering and delivering software products. Proven hands-on experience on RPG, RPGLE, SQL, CLLE CL OS/400, DB2/400. Knowledge of API & Microservices, designing & developing responsive UI components. Project management experience and broad experience in managing teams of different work streams. In depth experience of working in a banking environment and change projects Stakeholder management experience, especially impactful communication, influencing and running project governance Implementation, change management and benefits realization
