Solar Construction Manager

Job Summary: The Construction Manager will serve as the full-time onsite representative for utility-scale solar (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) construction projects. This individual will oversee all aspects of daily construction activities and ensure that all contractors and subcontractors adhere to the terms of the contract and the owner’s requirements.

General Duties:

  • Read and fully understand project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, and schedules.

  • Act as the primary onsite representative and point of contact for all construction-related activities.

  • Collaborate with EPC teams onsite to optimize execution strategies and address site challenges with insight from past project experience.

  • Support offsite project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders as needed.

  • Coordinate communication with local landowners, power off-takers, permitting authorities, and other project-related external parties.

  • Assess and provide recommendations for improving construction methodologies.

  • Track and provide input on RFIs, change orders, and contractor communications.

  • Review contractor submittals and monitor for compliance.

  • Identify and report progress issues as they arise.

  • Assist the project manager in confirming progress tied to payment milestones.

Daily/Weekly Activities:

  • Participate in daily construction meetings (e.g., POD meetings) and contribute to QA/QC activities.

  • Submit detailed daily reports including insights on construction and QA/QC findings, along with recommended actions.

  • Engage in scheduled project meetings to communicate progress, concerns, and action items.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Enforce and maintain safety programs on the jobsite.

  • Ensure timely and clear communication of all safety-related matters.

QA/QC Duties:

  • Lead or support daily inspections and testing in collaboration with the onsite QA/QC team.

  • Assist with the inspection and receipt of materials and equipment.

  • Perform audits on quality control processes and ongoing work.

  • Track and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and their resolution.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in construction management, ideally within renewable energy, utility-scale solar, or energy storage projects.

  • Experience working with EPC contractors and managing subcontractor performance.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to travel and work onsite at construction locations for extended periods.

  • OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Valid driver’s license.
