Onsite Energy, Inc. is a rapidly growing residential solar company located in Rockland County, NY seeking a highly experienced and motivated Solar Installer Technician to join our installation team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in solar panel installation or a related field. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the installation of solar panels on residential and commercial rooftops, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will also be responsible for leading a team of technicians and providing training and mentorship as needed. Must have a positive attitude on the job site and maintain a good/safe working environment for the crew. Roof Installer Position Description:

The Roof Installer position will be responsible for installing all roof components during the installation including (but not limited to) attachments, racking, panels, roof boxes, and wire management. The Roof Installer will, from time to time, help the roof lead/foreman with wire pulls and other electrical related installation requirements.The roof installer will ensure safety, quality, customer service, and productivity for a successful solar installation of all roofing components

Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Adaptation and implementation of all current and newly introduced SOP’s and company standards/values.

  • Making sure all roof related materials and tools are on the truck before leaving for the project or task

  • Letting the Lead Electrical Foreman know when any roof material is getting low so that it can be reordered.

  • Keeping your work truck/area(s) clean and organized.

  • Making sure all roof related photos and documentation are finalized for the project

Installation Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the successful installation of all roof related components of residential solar projects.

  • Aims to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframes.

  • Ensures project completion with attention to the roofing components with detail, emphasizing safety, quality, customer service, and productivity

  • Conducting site surveys and service calls as necessary

  • Creates the micro mapping for the inverters or optimizers

  • Effectively maintains project documentation and photo requirements

  • Develops a positive working dynamic within installation crew and branch co-workers; Analyzes and resolves worker problems and recommends solutions.

  • Maintains excellent lines of communication

  • Performs service calls and site surveys when necessary

  • 5% travel required

  • Two mandatory Saturdays per month as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of construction experience, including 1 year of solar installation experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)

  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance

  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching

  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity

  • Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching

  • Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment

  • Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height

  • Ability to work in the sun and possibly low light conditions

  • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage

  • Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green

  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings

  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protection
