About the Role
As a Solutions Architect at Data Society Group, you’ll work at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and client-driven problem-solving. In this client-facing role, you'll play a key role in designing and leading the development of data-powered solutions for a variety of clients ranging from the defense, commercial, and education space. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex requirements into scalable, distributed systems and provide technical leadership on diverse initiatives. You’ll pivot between projects, manage technical teams and complex problems, and guide solutions without getting too tied to any one product or approach.This role offers an opportunity to make a direct impact by leveraging technology to address meaningful challenges while working in a supportive, learning-oriented environment.
This is a remote role based out of the Washington, DC area that may be required to be on-site with clients in Washington, DC up to 40% of the time.
Role Details:
Hands-on Architect and Developer
- Design, build, test, and release key AI-powered services and products focused around learning systems and data platforms.
- Implement durable, secure software solutions that will solve critical customer problems in a fast-paced environment
Collaborate and Communicate
- Own client relationships, including ability to navigate difficult conversations with grace.
- Confident putting great looking decks together and communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Work directly with the sales team to understand requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver practical, innovative solutions (with a mix of onshore and offshore resources).
- Be a trusted partner with customers to deeply understand their needs and collaborate directly with their management teams. Act as the main technical voice for Data Society Group.
Lead by practice and example
- Be a domain Subject Matter Expert – contribute to standards, patterns, and best practices that improve engineering capabilities in performance, security, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management.
- Provide perspective on leading industry trends, recommendations on new and emerging technologies, technology prototypes, patent proposals, etc..
- Practice and evangelize continuous learning, experimenting, and applying cutting-edge technology and software paradigms to solve customer problems
Example client projects
- Building AI-powered knowledge search tools that go beyond ChatGPT, creating dashboards, models, and tables to deliver actionable insights.
- Architecting a Govt. agency budget tracking system to connect spending data across complex relationships.
- Developing sentiment analysis systems to transform service feedback and open-ended text into actionable recommendations.
- Designing logistics systems for one of the largest aircraft suppliers in the world.
Ideal Background:
- 8+ years of experience developing systems/software for complex distributed systems, management products, or business applications. Your work and past projects has likely given you expertise and experience in at least two of these:
- Large-scale microservices and distributed systems
- Cloud computing and storage systems
- Information Retrieval/Search Systems
- Machine learning for Search and/or Recommender systems
- You must have Full-stack development experience in:
- Back-end technologies like Python (ideally), Java, Typescript, Spring, NodeJS/Bun
- Front-end technologies like React, Angular, SwiftUI (iOS), Kotlin (Android)
- You have planned and architected holistic solutions, and have experience of bringing products zero to one.
- You must have experience with cloud platforms
- The vast majority of our work is in the cloud, so strong AWS and Azure is critical.
- Experience with AI infrastructure and applications.
- Enthusiasm for working with AI and machine learning technologies. While direct experience is not required, a genuine interest in exploring and implementing AI-powered solutions is important.
- You bring perspective and opinions on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- BS/MS in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience.
- Authorized to work in the US and resides within the continental United States.

- Team player well-respected for strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex technical environment.
- Excellent communication skills. Communicates clearly, succinctly, and persuasively to all levels of employees, customers, and management (including executives).
- "Self-starter" attitude and the ability to make decisions independently.
- Flexible and resilient.
- Travel 0-40% of the time for client engagements in Washington, DC and / or in-person company events.
Your first 30/60/90 days:
- First 30 Days: You’ll build relationships across teams, immerse yourself in our products, data, and current projects. Familiarize yourself with the tech stack(s) we use, possible alternatives and the competitive landscape. By the end of this period, you will have a good understanding of the technical roadmaps for current projects and contributed to upcoming projects.
- First 60 Days: You are actively coding in key areas across several projects. You are solving technical problems with other junior developers. You are consulting with pre-sales to help shape the next set of opportunities.
- First 90 Days: You are established as key contact to new projects and act as primary contact to stakeholders. You own the technical roadmap for multiple projects and guide the team to overcome technical challenges and meet project timeline and milestones.
