Job Description

AECOM has a position available for a Special Projects Coordinator to work with the Florida Department of Transportation on their transportation projects in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This position requires in-office presence 5-days per week.

DESCRIPTION

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has deployed the ITS Facility Management System (ITSFM) to manage the statewide communication network and a wide range of transportation industry equipment assets including intelligent transportation systems (ITS) field devices, traffic signal equipment, and telecommunications systems. These guidelines provide an overview of the ITSFM Coordinator responsibilities within the District Four TSM&O Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC).

The responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Reviewing deliverables for ITS and electrical to ensure conformance with as-built plans

  • Coordinating with Project Manager throughout the full life-cycle of project.

  • Coordinating Final Acceptance of ITSFM deliverables with CEI

  • Performing project coordination and providing guidance and assistance beginning with the contractor’s responsibility to furnish as-built plans and other documentation from new construction projects needed to populate the ITSFM system,

  • Reviewing plans and shop drawings, determining completeness of ITSFM submittal packages, and assisting CEI and providing guidance with the audit of data collection forms,

  • GPS and cable mapping, and feature import templates and record results in the audit records that will be submitted to the Department with recommendation to accept or reject the contractor’s ITSFM as-built deliverables.

  • Developing status reports related to percent complete for all the ITSFM elements from construction deliverables to importing and encoding the data into the ITSFM system.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Relevant experience should include

  • Experience in Fiber Installation Inspection, OTDR Fiber Testing, and Controller Operation and Testing

  • Previous experience with TSM&O and traffic engineering principles.

  • As a condition of employment a Valid US Driver's License is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with operations, management, or maintenance of a facility like the RTMC.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of requirements of FDOT Specification 611 Acceptance Procedures for Traffic Control Signals, Devices, and Intelligent Transportation System Devices

  • Sub-section 611-2.3 As-Built Documentation

  • Experience with effective communications and reading specifications, contract plans, and shop drawings; providing insight into discrepancies or omissions between as-built plans and ITSFM deliverables; providing support to CEI contractors related to ITSFM audits as needed

Offered rate of compensation (in Florida only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $75,220 - $104,000.
