Sr. Construction Estimator
On behalf of our client, we are currently looking for a Sr. Construction Estimator to join their dynamic team in Calgary, Alberta. This role requires a high attention to detail to manage various aspects of construction project activities, coordinating with Superintendents, Project Management teams, clients, and vendors. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Estimator will support the company’s vision, mission, S.P.I.R.I.T of values, and three daily pillars of safety, quality, and efficiency. The Estimator will produce cost estimates for assigned tenders, evaluate bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that information is correct and current, all of which are required to successfully bid and win tenders. The successful candidate will also be responsible for following up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received. What You Do:Produce cost estimates for assigned tenders.Evaluate bid specifications and drawings to ensure accurate and current information.Follow up with subcontractors to ensure bids are received.Estimate civil earthworks and underground projects.Evaluate and strategize sub-trade execution and estimates.Accountable for sub-trade strategies and overall proposal package submissionDevelop and maintain the overall construction plan, including schedule, concept, budget, procurement, and risk assessment.Prepare and maintain status of plans and subcontractor bid packages.Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors.Produce comprehensive bid packages for Project Manager and Superintendent, including labor and equipment budgets, material suppliers, subcontractors, tender specifications, and contracts.Update database and costing system with current project data.Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates.Conduct tender review meetings to review scope, production, construction approach, competitive landscape, schedule, and markup. Who You Are:Experience: 10+ years in underground utility infrastructure (combinations of experience and education may be considered).Education: P.Eng or CET preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (develop templates, track changes, create spreadsheets, use formulas).Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules, and cost reports.Thorough understanding of construction processes, environmental regulations, and safety practices.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Experience with B2W software (asset)Leadership or management experience (asset) What We Offer:Competitive total compensation package ($80,000 - $120,000 based on experience)Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision benefits planLife insurance and long-term disabilityCompany-matched RRSP ProgramProfessional and career development opportunitiesGenerous paid time off Apply now—we look forward to meeting you!
