Backyard ADUs is looking for a highly qualified Sr. Design Manager for their growing business. This is a Full Time, Remote with travel to build sites and office as needed throughout the week - Mon-Fri. The Senior Design Manager leads our design team on a day to day basis and engages in direct architectural design work. The manager will be responsible for the design and delivery of single ADUs, and the design and development of Backyards Upcoming multi-family projects in Maine and Massachusetts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In 2025, The Design Manager will lead the design team currently of 3 people to design and build 56+ ADUs in 2025 and 60+ units of multiple family apartments and/or townhouse projects. The manager will have assistance from Backyards civil project management team and work closely with the CEO and COO to develop and execute on the new multifamily business-line.
Qualifications
- Licensed Architect.
- Experienced in hiring Architects to act as Architect of Record for multi-family projects.
- 5+ years in managing a portfolio of projects simultaneously.
- 5+ years in modular home design and specification .
- In depth knowledge of modular design, engineering and production processes.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent record keeping ability.
- Knowledge and ability to use word processing, spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets), managing files and records (Google Drive), and other procedures and terminology.
Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and possess the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required, including:
- Advanced experience with home building and/or modular/manufactured housing operations.
- Ability to interpret and understand organizations policies and standards.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets), managing files and records (Google Drive), and other procedures and terminology.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to read and write effectively,
- Speak with clarity and listen actively.
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Ability to analyze information and achieve positive results in difficult situations or problems encountered.
