Sr. EHS Engineer-Chemical Safety

Job ResponsibilitiesManage the chemical safety and hygiene plan at Lam India, including all aspects related to chemical safety, chemical exposure monitoring, exposure threshold limit determinations, risk mitigation, and incident response. Manage regulatory permits related to toxic chemical storage, handling, and use. Interface with agency officials and submit permit deliverables to agency. Ensure compliance with permit conditions. Oversee and review facility operational plans for chemical change procedures, chemical vessel movement and management, and chemical storage compatibility. Implement the industrial hygiene programs at India, including laboratory safety, chemical safety, respiratory protection, bloodborne pathogen, hearing protection, risk & hazard mitigation, and radiation exposure control. Manages gas and chemical storage permits in collaboration with the facilities group. Maintain chemical inventory and ensure chemical storage onsite does not exceeded permitted quantities. Reviews requests to use new chemicals or changes in chemical use and provide guidance on required PPE, risk reduction, and impacts to regulatory requirements. Reviews requests related to chemicals usage and its interactions to minimize process safety hazards and exposure to employee. Additional Responsibilities Employ existing knowledge with regulatory and industry standards for exposure thresholds (TLVs, PELS, RELs) and understand when and how to implement monitoring plans based on activities conducted by employees. Evaluates proposed designs changes to products, equipment, and infrastructure and develops EHS controls (engineering, administrative, and work practice) to meet Lam internal and regulatory standards. Learn and conduct exposure monitoring for noise, light, ionizing and non-ionizing EM radiation, hazardous materials, and material handling. Conducts Qualitative and Quantitative exposure assessments for chemical, physical and biological hazards. Conducts confined space monitoring and manages confined space permit programs. Completes indoor air quality assessments and monitoring. Compiles and manages data to produce reports for regulatory agencies and in response to customer requests for information. Manages the Hazard Communication program at Lam India. Provides in person training and informational reports to various sized groups and stakeholders. Partners and engages with employees and management to drive successful EHS program implementation. Minimum Qualifications At least 5 years of EHS experience in chemical safety or process safety management. Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field. Understanding of chemical safety practices, preferably in a laboratory or semi-conductor industry environment. Strong knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations and requirements in India. Must be comfortable working in a laboratory, clean room, and construction environments. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to travel oversees on a limited basis for training. Professional EHS certifications desirable. Fluent in English. Skills Strong chemistry and analytical skills. Understanding of compressed gas safety and management. Excellent knowledge of chemical exposure thresholds. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, manage by influence, and drive results. Self-motivated and needs little supervision. Skills in analyzing and evaluating a wide variety of technical data, test results, reports, and plans. Ability to apply EHS and regulatory knowledge to business decisions. Ability to respond to and resolve complex challenges under pressure. Exceptional root cause and corrective/preventive action development skills.
