Sr. Emissions Management Engineer/Advisor - Emissions Compliance

Airswift is seeking a Senior Emissions Management Engineer/Advisor (Emissions Compliance) to join one of our major energy oil & gas clients Calgary, AB. This is an initial 1-year contract with a huge possibility to be converted into an employee position.





The ideal candidate will be responsible for the coordination of MSAPR & Benzene compliance programs, Regulatory & internal reporting of emissions and compliance obligations, and supporting emissions data management for internal and external requirements.





The applicant will be required to embrace change and be agile with different requests and requirements adhering to timelines, under the direction of the Senior Emissions Management Engineer accountable for the portfolio.


 


Competencies





Support daily requirements of:


  • ECCC MSAPR Part 1 (Boiler/) and Part 2 (Engines) portfolio.
  • Benzene (AER Directive 39) Compliance.
  • Completion of annual air emission compliance reports as specified.
  • Supporting emissions data compilation for internal and external reporting.






Skills:



  • Effective communication is required with many different stakeholders. Must relate technical information easily to all audiences concisely and respectfully.
  • The ability to collaborate with multiple teams and groups in an effective way to achieve the required results. May be required to support industry advocacy groups and represent the client’s interests.
  • Must be willing to learn and expand current knowledge of emissions management and data reporting while sharing and supporting others.
  • Maintain an open mind to understanding how to deliver results while remaining agile to business needs and requirements.
  • Remain focused on program and task completion while respecting timelines and requirements set by the organization, will be required to work in multi-disciplinary teams












Qualifications



  • Completion of post-secondary education (Bachelors Degree/Diploma) in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or relevant studies.
  • Prefer professional designation with a recognized association (APEGA, ASET, others).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in air emissions management, environmental, engineering, or related field. (Consideration will be given to applicants with less than 8 years of experience based on technical skills applicable to the related responsibilities and/or the oil and gas industry).
  • Understanding of Federal and Provincial air emission reporting and compliance requirements in Canada.
  • Familiarity with Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions & reporting.
  • Excellent collaboration, written and oral communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to learn new concepts and systems quickly while delivering results in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, emissions aggregation software, and/or data analytics systems (Spotfire/Power BI).






Work Schedule



  • Regular 40/hrs. per week.






Key Responsibilities



  • Supporting the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) NOx Multi-Sector Air Pollutants Regulation (MSAPR) – Part 1 Boilers and Heaters & Part 2 Spark-Ignited Engines Portfolio
  • Provide ongoing engine/boiler/heater fleet management for compliance.
  • Communicate regulation updates and changes to the business units in Canada.
  • Develop compliance strategy and communicate implementation timelines to stakeholders.
  • Support technical projects regarding compliance with existing and emerging regulations (i.e. new engine procurement, emissions abatement technologies)
  • Work with maintenance & operations for performance testing, emission checks, equipment operation & abatement requirements.
  • Report emissions using dashboards, software, and visualizations.
  • Manage documentation related to emissions and equipment testing.
  • Management of glycol dehydrator (benzene) fleet compliance.
  • Complete annual reports for Government agencies through external reporting platforms.
  • Provide additional support for other air emission compliance programs as required.
  • Supporting data compilation and quality assurance activities associated with corporate emissions forecasting and internal/external reporting of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions).
