Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation & Validation Engineer to lead the design, programming, and implementation of advanced automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SCADA, PLC, DCS, and HMI programming, with hands-on expertise in various automation platforms and a passion for optimizing system performance. As a key team member, the Senior Automation & Validation Engineer will lead complex automation projects, provide technical expertise in system validation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, program, and implement SCADA and PLC systems, including Ignition, FactoryTalk, and DeltaV.

  • Lead system validation efforts, overseeing the creation, execution, and guidance on validation protocols and procedures.

  • Configure and optimize Building Management and Utility systems for efficiency and compliance.

  • Develop and implement Sepasoft MES solutions for Batch, OEE, and SPC, ensuring integration and smooth operation across projects.

  • Lead startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems for industrial automation projects.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.

  • Manage projects, including cost estimation, proposal , and timeline tracking for various automation initiatives.

  • Design and validate control panels and electrical schematics using tools like AutoCAD.

  • Ensure FDA GxP compliance through adherence to GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BS Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Chemical, etc.) or equivalent with over 5 years’ experience in process industry.

  • Experience/Knowledge of selecting, designing and programming automation control systems. Startup and commissioning of DCS, Batch, PLC and SCADA systems using distributed I/O.

  • Experience in Control Systems (Emerson DeltaV, Allen Bradley, Foxboro, Siemens, Honeywell). Experience with SCADA, MES, and database systems, or computer system validation are considered a plus.

  • Certifications: Ignition Gold Certified (versions 7.9, 8.0, and 8.1), certifications in Sepasoft modules, Delta Controls, Siemens Desigo, and Engineer-In-Training (EIT).

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in programming such as Python, SQL, Java, and C#.

    • Experience with OSI PI Data Historian, Sepasoft MES, and high-level programming for automation solutions.

    • Knowledge of compliance practices for FDA-regulated industries, including GAMP5 and 21 CFR Part 11.

    • Strong skills in data visualization, reporting, and SQL Server Reporting Services.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Experience:

  • Background in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industries.

  • Familiarity with machine learning, analytics, and application development within automation systems.

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $125k - $150k per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, etc.
