What are the primary responsibilities in the Sr. Procurement Specialist position?

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Material Planner will play a key role in the seamless flow of materials and resources for efficient production. This involves procurement responsibilities, strategic sourcing, and supply chain planning to optimize inventory levels and meet production goals. This is a demanding position in a very active environment. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and/or in teams, have high energy and strong attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Develops and maintains Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system parameters and inventory systems through key performance metrics. Utilizes data-driven decision making to enable effective material forecasting, including lead times and lot sizes.
  • Responsible for assessing material requirements as required by MRP need date and releases orders in the Costpoint MRP system.
  • Interacts with cross functional teams to include purchasing, logistics, production control, and manufacturing/test/design engineering. Tracks, confirms, expedites, aligns and negotiates delivery to support need dates.
  • Analyzes system data to prepare material requirements including demand, spend plans, and monthly/quarterly financial material forecasts.
  • Communicates potential risks at the earliest possible time and recommends mitigating activities to support material need dates.
  • Provides timely status and/or expeditious "work around plans" to preserve schedule. Designs and implements plans to minimize supply chain risk.
  • Supports analysis of multiple Bills of Material (BOM’s) in the Costpoint MRP system. Releases work orders and tracks material throughout the build process.
  • Provides internal production floor support including replacement part management and shop floor material staging.
  • Controls the physical disposition of nonconforming material including return to vendor, purged material, etc.
  • Controls on-hand material throughout life cycle. Expedites and optimizes material flow through the supply chain to meet requirements.
  • Coordinates to determine appropriate time-phased plan for procured parts and executes processes to ensure deliverables meet schedule requirements.
  • Assists with inventory concerns to include forecasting, accuracy (cycle counting), vender managed inventory coordination, safety stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
  • Assists with kit readiness and coordinates kitting process when required.
  • Coordinates with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries to support production schedules.
  • Assists with inventory assessments to identify excess or obsolete materials and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensures timely and accurate material data collection to enable accurate material forecasting to support on-going repair activity.

What required background will make you successful?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of this education requirement.
  • Proven experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and/or production planning within a manufacturing environment (preferably in an electronics, defense, or aerospace environment).
  • Experience in inventory control and expediting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Proficiency in using MRP systems and other relevant planning tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Costpoint experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lift fragile heavy items such as servers, test equipment and other delicate electronic items that may exceed 50lbs.
  • Experience in MS Office, creating reports and leading meetings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED

Where is the position located?

This position is located at our Tucson, AZ Headquarters. Candidates will be required to work on-site and/or hybrid work schedules. *Relocation support may be available for this position.
