Staff Engineer

Job Title – Staff Engineer, Controls EngineeringThis position is responsible for the development of high level design and architecture of Chiller controls. This individual must be self-directed, highly motivated, and organized with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, and an ability to work on multiple projects and functions in a team environment. The primary role is to provide technical leadership for the design and development of electronic control products globally for the Chiller Solutions Group.Position Responsibilities• Work with other system architects to integrate customer user and business requirements into system design concepts and make recommendations to the organization on preferred design/architecture for a given set of requirements.• Must be an analytical thinker in applying robust design methodologies and engineering principles (modeling, simulation, statistics, data acquisition, etc.) to develop and realize solutions• Participate in cross functional (software, firmware, controls, hardware, applications) teams to facilitate tight and coherent integration of these subsystems.• Support front end business development activities including planning, technology evaluation, and developing estimates for proposed products/projects.• Provide innovative leadership in product development process improvements and refinements particularly as they apply to software and system development.• leading and writing in the development of software requirements specifications, design documents• Work closely with product owners and senior developers to understand business requirements, conduct research, and hold frequent reviews and demonstrations to ensure requirements are met and risks are both communicated and mitigated• Support and encourage a philosophy of cooperation within the group, and being both a role model and mentor for more junior software engineers;QualificationsDr. in Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a similar discipline is preferred. A MS degree with commensurate experience is required.Significant experience with MathWorks MATLAB and Simulink productsA background in feedback control theory, thermodynamics and heat transfer, optimization, or systemsMinimum ten years experience in design and development is preferredControls or HVAC system engineering experience is preferred.Familiar with commercial or industrial control systemsDemonstrate an ability to learn quickly and independently is requiredThe ability to apply analytic methods to realize solutions is requiredDemonstrated problem-solving skills are requiredStrong communication (verbal and written) skills; Good English communication skill is preferred. Other Qualifications• Must live within reasonable driving distance of our Wuxi office.
