Staff Engineer, Product Applications

Analog Devices (ADI) operates at the center of modern digital economy, converting real-world phenomena into actionable insights with its comprehensive suite of analog and mixed signal, radio frequency (RF), power management, digital, and sensor technologies. Automated Test Equipment (ATE) group develops solutions for all aspects of high-volume semiconductor production test market including; SoC, memory, display driver, RF & mmWave, consumer electronics and analog precision test.We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Systems Applications Engineer to fulfil a strategic role in our team. The System Applications Engineer will be responsible for supporting our new high-speed interface, pin electronics and timing generator solutions from contributing to early product definition to building and configuring early product prototypes and demonstrating them to key customers, and to finally supporting design-ins at key customers.System Applications Engineer will be tasked with working closely with the customers, internal marketing and design teams on product definitions and requirements. As well as developing early product prototypes and technology demonstrators with advanced test chips. This will include developing eval boards and kits, writing FPGA and evaluation code and programming FPGAs to demonstrate key value proposition of our product concepts. As our ATE projects become more complicated system solutions and SoCs, the Systems Application Engineer will form the core around which we hope to further expand systems applications team.ResponsibilitiesLead the customer engagement activities associated with the development assigned ADI ATE high speed and precision signal chains product concepts including new product definition. Work closely with customers and ADI Marketing/Design/Field Applications/Market Segment communities to define successful new products for this portfolio.Be responsible for ATE high speed and precision signal chains design-in successes for assigned released products and products under development. Manage relationships with customers during their design-in phase with a signal chain solution mind set. This will involve gaining an understanding of the customer's application and providing innovative, practical, and timely solutions to customer challenges.Work closely with key design and marketing teams to develop product prototypes demonstrating new capability to customers.Work closely with reliability team to define and execute on qualification plan and validation of the necessary qualification hardware.Analysis of product evaluation and reliability test data.Designing and executing evaluation test methods to characterize and measure new silicon performance over customer use case and environmental conditions, interpreting the measurement data, identifying silicon issues and debugging to root cause.Preparing evaluation hardware and diagnostic programs, designing test fixtures, and completing specifications and procedures for new products.Develop ATE product datasheetsCreation and production of design-in tools that reinforce a product’s customer value proposition. These include but are not limited to: demonstration systems, on-line tools and technical literature (user guides, application notes, Circuits From The Lab reference designs, design notes, technical seminars and FAQs).Develop and participate in online and in person training activities for customers, field application engineers, sales engineers and distributors.Actively participate in the ADI EZone forum to support ATE high speed and precision signal chains customer questions.Develop system level signal chain understanding in ATE systems.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification with at least 5 years’ experience.Communication with our customers and our sales/field applications engineers requires an outgoing personality with a pleasant and professional manner. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are a key requirement. The ideal candidate would have experience in analog to digital converters, analog circuits, semiconductor IC processes, and system engineering is also beneficial.Experience with high speed serdes and protocols required. Familiarity with high speed serdes common equalization techniques including CTLE and DFE, etc. and setting up and troubleshooting high speed serdes connections and signal integrity issues.Experience with DSP and programming and implementing DSP algorithms in FPGAs, as well as high speed serdes channel measurement and modelling.Experience with common FPGA programing tools including Vivado, System Generator, and developing Matlab algorithms and implementing them in FPGAs would be desirable.Experience needed with high level software languages. Examples include LabVIEW, C# or C and Matlab.Experience with high-speed data converters and ATE products including pin drivers, comparators and parametric measurement units (PPMU) from a design or a usage perspective would be desirable. Previous experience with ATE tester design (SoC, digital test cards, memory testers, etc.) preferred.Familiarity with commonly used electronic test equipment is important, e.g. Oscilloscopes and Frequency Signal Generators, Vector Network Analysers and Spectrum AnalysersAs the job requires constant communication with customers, it will therefore necessitate travel within Europe as well as the US and Asia. #LI-VD1Job Req Type: ExperiencedRequired Travel: Yes, 10% of the timeShift Type: 1st Shift/Days
