A re-design of storage systems to utilize flash based media and other advanced non-volatile memory technologies has begun. Micron SSD Systems Architecture is looking for an engineer to help our Data Center Workload Engineering team characterize flash-based media for AI applications and storage systems. We are well-positioned to lead the storage revolution that will allow customers to experience the full benefit of these exciting memory technologies.Roles and ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and deploy AI solutions that simulate customer environments – Specific focus around the characterization of training and inference workloads like DLRM, Image Segmentation, Large Language Models, and Generative AICollect and analyze storage traces of AI workloads, uncovering and classifying unique IO behavior.Devise and implement suitable benchmarking strategies, drawing from industry standards, and field feedbackAutomate and expand existing benchmarking capabilities to improve efficiency and repeatabilityDemonstrate skills at instrumenting and measuring application workload requests, analyze storage solution I/O activity down to SSD devices and monitor system resource utilizationAnalyze system level bottlenecks and solve issues involving virtualization technologies, distributed storage architectures, and complex application workload environmentsInterpret findings and results, summarizing into standard methodologies, white papers, and presentations to help SSD engineering understand unique AI workload requirementsWork with multi-functional teams and key partners to deliver prescriptive guidance documents to position our storage products in premier application environmentsDrive continuous improvement feedback to Micron product development organizationsImprove efficiency by automating solution deployment, benchmark tests and related proceduresMeet project schedules with a high degree of fidelityPresent technical content at key industry eventsKnowledge and Skills:Understanding of emerging AI workloads and their impact and requirements on system architectureExpert understanding of PythonExperience with hypervisors and SDS stacks: VMware ESX, VSAN, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure Stack HCI, Ceph, Docker, Linux ContainersSynthetic I/O characterization and related tools – IOMeter, vdbench, FIO, Blktrace, etc.Operating systems and associated internal storage stacks: Microsoft, VMware, LinuxIP network design and deployment: VLAN, RoCE, InfinibandFamiliarity with and knowledge of Solid State Drives and related technologiesExperience in Data Center SSD validation is a plusExcellent oral and written communication skillsEducation:A bachelor’s or master’s degree and 5+ years relevant engineering experience.
