We are looking to hire a SPC Engineer in the city of Gardena, CA This is a Contract opportunity to join our Engineering department.

Pay: $40.00-52.88/hour

Contract: 12-Months

Position Summary:
The SPC Engineer is a proactive member within the Engineering team. This role is primarily focused on Statical Process Controls on the shop floor and Keyence programming. Along with integrating SPC and Quality inspection within New Product Introduction (NPI). In this role, the employee will have ownership over the SPC within the engineering team, will work with Product and Methods to ensure requirements are met, and work with Operations to ensure the necessary process controls exist for manufacturing. Also, in this role the employee will use project management tools to track and implement strategic projects

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Statical Process Control management

  • Update SPC drawings to add to required dimensional inspection
  • Update SPC programs
  • Implement SPC control within the NPI process
  • Defining Key Characteristics for product manufacturing and setup/coordination of SPC Plans with the Mfg. Engineering team to ensure customer requirements are met

Keyence Programming

  • Define, design and program Keyence for dimensional inspection on the FAI and in process inspections.
  • Good project management skills
  • Maintain clear, concise, and structured project trackers, with milestones, for strategic onboarding projects, including actions, owners, due dates, and financial opportunity
  • Write clear and concise statements of work for customer-driven or new product development and introduction projects
  • Ability to take the lead within the Engineering team on project management, driving assigned actions and tasks, and to support less experienced engineers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Engineering team administrative processes, such as engineering change orders, new product introduction, drawing creation/release, project requests from sales/customer/manufacturing, workflow processes, project requests, and creation of procedures.
  • Create engineering report-outs and presentations to senior management on major projects, including intelligently walking through project timelines, milestones, metrics or KPI's, and the action plan/next steps.
  • Writing and releasing work instructions, process specifications, and operating procedures related to plant engineering activities and technical manufacturing requirements.
  • May occasionally perform special duties or projects, as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of Engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • A track-record of working on successful, results-driven engineering projects
  • Project management experience with successful project outcomes
  • A track-record of successful problem solving using robust logic, RCCA, 8D, 5 Why, etc.
  • Firm skill-set with the Microsoft Suite - Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Experience creating solid models and Drawings using SolidWorks or CATIA
  • Experience in managing product data (drawings, models, processes, procedures) using a PDM software
  • Experience in process mapping and in deployment of process improvement tools to develop and deploy the future state
  • Experience in developing and working with test plans for validation or development of new product, and for trouble-shooting existing product.
  • Experience in the adherence, or creation, of project metrics and KPI's

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, both within the organization and with customers or vendors/suppliers
  • Ability to work well with individuals inside and outside of the organization
  • Mechanically-oriented, and having demonstrated hand-on mechanical abilities
  • Fundamental Microsoft Windows computer skills, including but not limited to, organized management of file folders, shared files, managing file types, and desktop setup
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and draw conclusions from complex data or information
  • Demonstrated cross-functional management ability across multiple departments
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, and to guide others through highly ambiguous problems
  • Ability to apply rigorous logic and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to Create and Interpret Engineering Drawings, including GD&T, and ability to work with SolidWorks or CATIA solid models
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control in a high-mix, medium-volume manufacturing environment
  • Ability to interpret and produce well-written, clear, and concise technical procedures.
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated use of ERP/MRP/MES systems
  • Previous design, product development, and product lifecycle management experience a plus
  • Working knowledge and ability to develop current state Process maps, identify improvements, develop future state process maps, and new processes implementation
  • Familiarity with phase-gate type process workflows
  • Exposure to Design for Six Sigma and/or Lean/Six Sigma training (either formal, or informal)
