What you’ll be doing:

As a Structural 3d Drafter at WWSI you’ll work at our Tualatin headquarters. This position will interpret construction documents, engineering calculations, and consult with the sales and engineering departments to produce 3D dimensional models to different Levels of Detail (LOD) of mass timber framing components, such as beams, columns, and floor and roof panels with applicable connections using CADwork. In this role you’ll:

• · Prepare models from architectural & structural drawings of record and from in-house engineering calculations
• · Create structural details as required to explain the layout of the structure for fabrication and installation
• · Use engineering calculations to prepare individual details with proper material sizes, grades and spacings
• · Model and detail projects using CADwork
• · Use 3D models to identify clashes between other trades within the master model and our material specific model
• · Create Cadwork models to produce fabrication files for our material fabricators to program CNC machinery
• · Create shop details for all sawn, glulam, CLT or steel products
• · Check in-house drawings against the purchase agreement, calculations and drawings of record for accuracy and completeness
• · Communicate and collaborate effectively with WWSI team members and customers
• · Generate 3D models to contribute to marketing efforts and project bid presentations.

Required Skills & Experience:

· 4+ years of experience and proficiency in Cadwork preparing models and fabrication drawings; Or, completion of a degree or certificate in CAD technology or equivalent and 2+ years of experience and proficiency in Cadwork

• · Basic geometry skills. (solving triangles, slopes curves, etc.)
• · Basic knowledge of Architectural & Structural construction documents, including but not limited to plan sets and specifications
• · Ability to think critically, utilize available resources to solve problems, and know when to ask for assistance or clarification
• · Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
• · Detailed knowledge of the Levels of Detail (LOD) scale and be able to communicate what is expected and the at each level

Requested Skills & Experience:

• · Prior experience with drafting software such as AutoCAD (3D), Revit, etc.
• · Understanding of building construction, detailing and structural systems
• · Bluebeam or Adobe experience
