Structural Engineer

Job description About the Role: Structural Engineer to join a global OEM specialising in material handling technologies and machines for the mining and heavy industrial sector. Responsible for structural design calculations and developing the detailed design of approved concepts under the direction of the Project Lead Engineer. Develop detailed structural design of machines in order to enable engineering of other disciplines (detail mechanical and electrical). Carry out calculations required for the determination of structures and inputs into structural and electrical engineering. Produce a detailed scope of work and technical specifications for procurement of structural steel fabrication and/or 3rd party structural design. Organise and lead structural design review meeting, follow-up on the issue register and report the open/closed items with possible schedule, cost, and resource impact. Prepare, check, and review discipline related technical documentation. Assist the Project Lead Engineer to liaise with client on technical issues related to the design. Participate in project design audits & reviews to ensure design is to all relevant standards, specifications and provides a tightly integrated and professional solution. Ensure compliance with Australian Standards. Ensure interpretation of client's specifications are according to the requirements. Provide discipline related support to the sales team in preparation of tenders. Review technical aspects of suppliers' quotations for structural fabrication and structural 3rd party design and participate in clarification process. Participate in technical meetings/discussions with suppliers. Provide technical support to the Project Lead Engineer during meetings with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients. Strong SpaceGass experience. Good working knowledge of relevant design codes and standards.
