ABOUT CANNINGTON Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. ABOUT THE ROLE This role is a 2-year fixed-term contract position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa to our Cannington Operation – up to 25% work from home arrangement. As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the integrity of the Cannington Blueprint, providing specialised structural and civil engineering expertise. Manage modifications and projects in line with established processes, standards, and targets for HSEC, quality, and cost. Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: Deliver specialised Structural and Civil Engineering expertise, guiding organisational strategy on business risks, technology, and best practices Execute design, analysis, inspection, verification, and remediation of new and existing Steel and Concrete structures Create and uphold asset management plans for critical structural and civil assets at South32 Cannington. Assist in developing maintenance strategies for new equipment and infrastructure ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Structural engineering experience gained within relevant industries Strong technical competencies, ideally with expertise in structural and civil engineering for process plants and mine sites Proficiency in structural and civil engineering design, inspection, and remediation Thorough knowledge of Australian Standards and Regulations pertaining to structural engineering and Project engineering Proven commitment to safe working practices Qualifications for this position are: Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering RPEQ or CPEng desired South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
