Position Overview: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in design of structural engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of projects and contribute to the continued growth of the organization. Responsibilities: Design and Analysis: Develop and review structural designs for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with OBC Part 4 requirements. This includes the design of structural systems, components, and connections for buildings and other structures. Code Compliance: Ensure that all designs meet or exceed the relevant provisions of the Ontario Building Code (Part 4), including loading requirements, material specifications, and safety regulations. Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of structural designs. Software Utilization: Utilize advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro) to create detailed models and simulations that accurately reflect the structural behavior of buildings under various loads. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive design reports, calculations, and construction drawings that clearly communicate the structural design intent to clients and construction teams. Client Interaction: Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions that meet both their expectations and regulatory requirements. Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and professional conduct. Quality Assurance: Conduct site visits and inspections to verify that construction work aligns with the approved structural designs and OBC requirements. Address any discrepancies and provide solutions to ensure project integrity. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (Masters an asset). Minimum of 4 years of proven structural design experience within a consulting firm Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is required. Strong understanding of OBC, structural engineering principles and design standards. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in design work. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
