Job Description
The Structural Engineer will design structures that withstand Alaskan winters, earthquakes, and high winds; crunch numbers; analyze stresses; and make steel beams feel invincible. The Structural Engineer will collaborate with architects and civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineers (and maybe even find yourself on a site visit where you can catch king salmon).
Job responsibilities:
- Analyze structures using computer analysis programs
- Prepare structural plans, details, specifications, and related construction observations
- Lead structural and multi-discipline projects
- Review other engineers’ designs and project structural drawings
- Interpret and coordinate with architectural drawings
- Participate in design progress meetings
- Assist with project proposals
- Observe on-site structural construction
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural coursework emphasis
- Professional Engineer registration
- 5 to 10 years of experience in structural engineering
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Mathcad
- Familiarity with RISA, STAAD, SAP, Enercalc, or similar Structural Analysis Software
- Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Additional experience/skills:
- M.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
- Structural Engineer registration
- Revit experience
- Project Management experience and/or Designer of Record
- Interest in continued professional development

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
