Structural Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

In your position of Structural Engineer, you will play a key role on our integrated design-build team that specializes in innovative and high-quality commercial projects. This unique role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with in-house architecture and construction, fostering trusted relationships and ensuring your designs are brought to life with exceptional quality assurance. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize your expertise in designing with timber, steel, concrete, and masonry to develop structural designs for a wide variety of commercial projects, including essential facilities.
  • Perform structural calculations and prepare construction documents and calculation packages for jurisdictional approval.
  • Conduct field investigations and structural condition assessments.
  • Follow and drive projects through construction, ensuring quality through RFI reviews, material submittals, and periodic on-site observations.
  • Collaborate daily with project partners, including in-house architects/builders, owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Enjoy ongoing feedback and insights from contractors to enhance constructability and continuously improve designs.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Professional Licensure: Licensure in Oregon as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE). Licensure as a Structural Engineer (SE) is strongly desired but not required.
  • Building Structures Expertise: 10+ years of experience engineering building structures, including essential facilities (commercial).
  • Enjoys Collaboration: This is the right job for the professional who enjoys ongoing collaboration with the contractor and other disciplines. Together we design and build great projects.
  • Document Preparation: Proficiency in Revit or CAD is highly desired, though support drafting staff is available.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
  • Sitting (or driving) in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), i.e.: using a keyboard.
  • Ability to see within normal parameters.
  • Ability to hear within normal range.
  • Ability to speak and make oneself heard from arms length distance.
