Job Summary: The primary purpose of a Project Engineer – Structural Group is to effectively and efficiently execute on a wide range of engineering assignments to ensure our clients’ needs are satisfied and, at the same time, thrilled with the results.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Execute efficiently and effectively on structural engineering design projects.
- Perform structural analyses and designs of solids storage structures, such as bins, silos, bunkers and pressure vessels according to applicable and current codes and standards.
- Conduct structural assessments of existing bulk solids storage structures and determine their suitability for continued use as well as develop engineering rehabilitation schemes for such structures.
- Conduct stress and fatigue analyses as well as investigation of failures for bulk solids storage structures.
- Identify and develop project scope and proposal for project award.
- Prepare structural design calculations, proposals and detailed reports.
- Perform domestic and international site visits to client offices for project meetings and to plant sites to conduct structural inspections and construction/installation supervisions.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Familiarity with ACI, ASCE, AISC and AWS Codes and Standards expected.
- Working/basic knowledge of drafting software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis design software such as RISA, Compress, ANSYS, etc. FEA experience is a plus.
- Excellent design and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of bulk solids handling operations including silo structure behavior is desirable but not essential.
- Candidate must be comfortable dealing with clients and possess excellent communication and report writing skills.
Education & Experience:
- Civil Engineering degree with a solid Structural design foundation. Advanced degree is .
- Minimum of 5 (five) years of industrial design experience in steel, reinforced concrete and aluminum structures.
Other Requirements:
- Days of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are typically between 8:30 a – 5 p, or as approved by supervisor. This position periodically requires additional hours beyond a 40-hour work week.
- Position involves limited travel.
