About the Role:

\n

We are seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineer to join our team in Farnborough. The successful candidate will work on a diverse portfolio of projects, utilizing advanced finite element-based structural analysis codes and classical analytical methods to simulate the response of complex materials and structures in challenging environments.

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

    \n
  • Conduct structural analysis using finite element modelling methods, particularly ABAQUS.
  • \n

  • Deliver projects involving novel research and methods development, as well as traditional engineering assessments and design-support activities.
  • \n

  • Write quality technical reports and presentations.
  • \n

  • Provide technical leadership and support to team members.
  • \n

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on a broad range of and international projects.
  • \n

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Experienced structural analyst with strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • \n

  • Proficiency in finite element modelling methods, especially ABAQUS.
  • \n

  • Ability to manage time effectively and deliver projects to time, cost, and quality.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of adjacent technical disciplines such as design, manufacturing, materials, aerodynamics/hydrodynamics.
  • \n

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • \n

  • Eligibility to hold UK SC security clearance.
  • \n

\n

Desirable Skills and Experience:

\n

    \n
  • Analysis of composite structures, including progressive damage in multiple failure modes.
  • \n

  • Development and calibration of bespoke material models/sub-routines to simulate complex materials behaviours.
  • \n

  • Dynamic-explicit analysis methods, including impact modelling.
  • \n

  • Structural dynamics and vibration analysis and testing.
  • \n

  • Aero-elastic analysis and thermal analysis, including transient heat flow.
  • \n

  • Structural optimisation and creation of semi-automated workflows using tools such as Isight.
  • \n

  • Commercial awareness and experience of bidding.
  • \n

  • Programming skills in VBA, Python, or FORTRAN.
  • \n

  • Development of CAD models using Solidworks.
  • \n

\n

Domain Experience:

\n

While technical capability is paramount, experience in aerospace, space, or weapons domains would be beneficial.

\n

Additional Information:

\n

The role is primarily based in Farnborough, with occasional off-site working possible. Current operations include provisions for home-working, though this may not be guaranteed for all projects.
