Structural Engineering Business Development Associate/Associate Director

About the Role:

We currently working exclusively with one of our key clients and are looking for a Structural Engineering Associate/Associate Director to join their Structures Team in Northampton. This role is pivotal in driving new business opportunities and building relationships to support the team in securing and delivering high-quality projects.


The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background combined with a passion for business development, as this role bridges technical expertise and client-focused growth initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Structures and Civils teams to identify, pursue, and secure new projects, with a focus on schools, community centers, and residential developments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring consistent communication and understanding of their needs.
  • Develop strategies to convert potential opportunities into actionable projects, reducing the amount of work left with clients.
  • Lead the project lifecycle from initial client engagement through to delivery, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Proactively identify opportunities in new markets, supporting long-term business growth over the next 1-3 years.
  • Act as a mentor within the team, providing guidance and support to develop business development capabilities among team members.
  • Utilise a networking budget to enhance visibility and forge meaningful connections within the industry.


About You:

  • Experience: Proven experience in structural engineering, with a strong preference for candidates at the Principal level ready to step into an Associate role.
  • Technical Acumen: A deep understanding of structural engineering principles and project delivery.
  • Sales Savvy: Ability to engage clients and articulate value propositions effectively.
  • Enthusiasm and Initiative: A proactive mindset with a passion for driving business growth and team success.
  • Flexibility: While the role is office-based, a flexible working arrangement (3 days in the office) is available for the right candidate.
